These strain gages have thin stainless steel backings which prevent the penetration of moisture from the reverse side. This construction is designed for strain measurement on concrete surfaces. The WFLM gages have water proofing top side extending past the integral lead wire junction in addition to the stainless steel backing. Consequently, they are well suited for long term measurement or measurement on underwater-curing concrete.
